We visit as many senior living communities as we can.
Every year, the United Irish Societies of San Francisco brings a bit of the St. Patrick’s Day parade to our friends at several Bay Area Senior Living communities. This year, we will go to Alma Via (1 St. Thomas More Way, SF) on Saturday March 7th at 2pm.
We bring much of the same entertainment as the parade with the Pearse & Connolly Fife & Drum, San Francisco Bag Pipers Band, adult and children Irish dancers as well as some homemade soda bread, there may be some jokes and a sing song!
On Sunday, March 8 (time to be confirmed), we will head down the Peninsula a bit to stop at Westborough Royale, a senior living community with a lot of enthusiastic residents.
We are hoping to return to Laguna Honda and possibly, the Veteran’s Hospital at Ft. Miley.
We do this because our elders should be honored and remembered and INCLUDED — we couldn’t have had 175 years of parades without them. They broke barriers for us and just because they can’t come to the parade doesn’t mean that they can’t participate.
